The Rules of Civility by Amor Towles - Follow up
Published in 2011 this was Amor Towles first book after a few failures. It is a picture of NYC in the 1930's, and was very favorably reviewed by many periodicals, including Goodreads which is linked: Goodreads link here
Our thanks to Reid and David for hosting the first couples book club via Zoom today, and leading the discussion. Some of us rated The Rules of Civility book roughly 8 out of 10, while others thought it needed more of a plot, and perhaps less emphasis on characters.
The next quarterly club meeting will be sometime in May with Mike and Sally choosing the book, and coordinating the exact date.
Marybelle and Bill have agreed to join this esteemed group, hoping the next meeting won't conflict with a their daughter's wedding in late May. Hopefully by that time, Mr. Covid will be less onerous and we can meet on a patio, with drinks and dinner. The thought is to have the host coordinate the dinner so that each couple will bring food to reduce the host workload. Most importantly the host should have ample booze on hand.
It is also envisioned that Willows Café members be actively engaged in contributing to this blog for everyone's benefit.
